Products that suck, products that rock
An incomplete list of Plone products I like and dislike
Recommendable products - stuff that just works
- FacultyStaffDirectory - rich functionality, easy extensible, good implementation
- FileSystemStorage - works perfectly, perhaps to be replaced with plone.app.blob soon
- PloneFormGen - pretty flexible and extensible, can be used for several purposes
- easycommenting (aka iqpp.plone.commenting) - rockid solid framework for dealing with comments
- FCKeditor - very good functionality, easy customizable, works nice and smoothly
- PloneFlashUpload - works nicely without problems, error handling could be better (e.g. if you're uploading an image that already exists)
- Reflecto - integrates the local filesystem very easily with Plone...great Wiggy-work
Products with potential
- Collage - good implementation and pretty stable but has several visual and usability issues
- Singing & Dancing - a new newsletter/subscription framework, appearently with a clean and extensible architecture, the newsletter UI needs some work
Products for the trashcan
- PloneGazette - terrible implementation, several internal hacks, just scary
